Language Learning with Netflix extension – A Great Tool
language learning with Netflix Extension
New language learning with Netflix extension – There are many ways to learn a new language. But to truly grasp a new language, it requires practice. There are also many ways to practice your newly learned language including paid practice sessions online.
But nothing beats learning while doing what you love. If you’re a Netflix and chill fan, then you’re in luck! In this article I’ll be explaining how to use Netflix, yes the streaming platform, to learn or practice a newly learned language.
Netflix has a huge library of movies and series for you to be entertained for a lifetime. And they keep adding new titles every other day so it’s literally impossible to exhaust their library. But to have more fun with Netflix, you can do a few extra things.
Netflix Subtitles
One of those things that I learned recently is that I can take advantage of Netflix subtitles to learn a new language. Did you even know Netflix had subtitles? Now you do! Most of the titles on Netflix have subtitles and some of them have subtitles in more than one language.
You probably already know that you can change the language on Netflix. This means you can change the language in the actual sound and/or even the subtitles. This could be a good opportunity to watch a show and have the translated subtitles in real-time.
If you have made significant progress in grasping the language you’re learning, you could even simply use the audio and turn off the subtitles because they can be distracting. That way, you’ll watch the show in the language you’re learning.
But this only works if you have already made significant progress. This is a great opportunity to polish up on a language you’re learning or re-learning. You could either put the language you’re trying to learn on the subtitles or on the voice or vice versa depending on how you prefer learning.
Personally, I prefer watching Friends, my favorite sitcom of all time, in French voice but with English subtitles. That way, anything I’m not sure about, I’ll just read the subtitles. It helps you also learn the proper pronunciation of words. My french is much better now.
New Language using VPN
The only limitation to this fun way of learning a new language is that Netflix does not make all languages available in all regions at the same time. That would obviously be a logistical nightmare and impractical. So there are chances that you might not be able to find the language you’re looking for. You can also watch Netflix USA in Deutschland.
It might not even be on Netflix at all. But if you suspect the language you’re looking for is available in another region, you could use a VPN and select that region to make that language available for you. It’s a fun way of learning a new language in a fun way.
Netflix Google Chrome Extension
Also, if you tried using a VPN and still couldn’t find the language you’re looking for, you could try a third-party tool like ‘Language learning with Netflix’. It’s a Google Chrome extension that translates the subtitles in real-time to a language of your choice.
It has a huge catalog of languages so it’s actually hard to miss any language you might be interested in learning. The only downsides are that it’s limited to Google Chrome browser and that it’s a subtitle only tool. That means you can’t learn the proper pronunciation of your newly learned language.
Nevertheless, still a great tool.
Great read! Wow!
