The Atari Breakout or the Breakout game is one of the best Google games which was invented by two genius men Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristo. This arcade game was released on May 13, 1976, by Atari, Inc. However, this popular game was developed by Steve Wozniak with Steve Jobs.

Even Apple II’s personal computer was based on this game’s popular aspects. This is actually not the original one as it is ported and influenced by Atari 2600 and then, further followed by a 1978 sequel- Super Breakout. When this game came into the market it proved to be the winner of all games After that, many developers or competitors have started to design a game with the resembles of it but, the original is always the winner.

Atari then released the upgraded version of the game which again became the center of the attraction and game lovers was enough thanks to the company. There are many Google games which one can play but, today we are discussing the best Google game – Atari Breakout.

How to play Atari Breakout?

  • Breakout is a two-player game that can be played by either player at one time.
  • There are few layers of different color bricks, a ball, and a paddle.
  • You have to break a brick of a particular color and whenever you break a brick you will get some point. The point range is fixed according to the color of brick as breaking green brick will give you 3 points, yellow bricks for one, 5 points for orange, and 7 points for the first layered red brick.
  • The main intention is to put the ball up in the place while breaking every brick in motion. When you do that, there are sidewalls on the display and a moveable paddle in the bottom.
  • The ball jumps off as soon as it breaks the brick and the brick gets destroyed immediately.
  • After the ball comes down, the paddle is used to bounce it back. It is really important to move the paddle in the direction of the ball. If the paddle fails to bounce the call, the payer will miss its turn.
  • You will get 2 rounds screen of bricks and each player gets 3 turns to win the game. So, the ball shouldn’t bypass the paddle and touch the base of the screen.

It was originally ported from its own Atari 2600 game and then converted into a pack in the game which could be executed on Atari 5200. The sequel of the game- Super Breakout could be played Ontario 5200 console.  After further development, now game lovers can play it on Game arcade, Windows OS, iOS, Gameboy advance, Apple II, MSX, Nuon. A player only has to break six layers of a brick wall. It is not as easy as it sounds. So, the player would get 5 turns to break 2 walls instead of 3.

  • Breakout has gone through many upgrades and sequels a ported from its original version. Like, Super Breakout was released in 1978 which had 4 different modes. Its visual style was so unique and powerful as developers homeports it as the fourth mode. Look, at the year wise changes:
  • In Breakout 2000, the developer used 3D visual played and more extra features. This was particularly released for the Atari Jaguar console.
  • In 2000, it was published for PC and PlayStation by Atari Inc. subsidiary and it was known as 3D Breakout.
  • Atari SA has released Breakout Boost in 2011 which was the improved version with graphics, brick-types, and power-ups.

If a user wants to play Breakout on an original iPod, they have to hold down the center button center on the easter egg in the about list. In the later version of Breakout, the ball will not bounce back after hitting the floor. It will remain to go by the bricks until it touches the wall. It is designed by the co-founder of modern-day Apple, Inc. who has used many characteristics in Apple II personal computers.
